Health Improvement Category Winner
Judy F
.

Hi, my name is Judy and I am a 44 year old mother of 2 (DD Sammie – 9 years and DS Woody – 7 years), married to a wonderful man (who is an OB/GYN) named Jon; we live in Medina, OH (between Cleveland and Akron). I am entered in the Average to Lose & Health Improvement Categories of this contest.

My T-Tapp journey these last 3 months has been nothing short of incredible and so much more than expected. Where to begin? Actually, let me preface this with a little background (health) about myself. In January of 1980 I was involved in a very serious MVA that, as far as the Docs were concerned, should have killed me. However, among my injuries that would be pertinent to Tapping, (1) I broke my R femur and was in traction for a little over 1 month and (2) I crushed my L ankle and had 2 external pins with the first cast and 3 internal pins, as well as 2 internal screws.

So fast forward to 2005 and what I deal with on a daily basis: a R thigh with a little curve to it and a L ankle with tremendously decreased mobility (due to fused bones) and constant pain. Because of my leg injuries, for the last 25 years I have manipulated my body to compensate for getting around the most comfortable way possible. And what has that left me? Well, spinal alignment that is out of whack, which has led to new issues with other body parts, such as my R sciatic nerve, my R shoulder and rotator cuff and my neck, not to mention what I may have done to my L knee as a result of walking sideways sometimes. Now don’t get me wrong, I have never let any of this ever stop me from working out. As a matter of fact, since 1984, I have been faithfully involved in aerobics, step aerobics, weights, walking…suffice it to say that I am no stranger to exercise! Add to all this the feeling during the past 1-2 years that the effort involved in my workouts has hardly kept pace with how my body is now changing at this point in my life, and with 2 young children, I have neither the time or the inclination to be constantly working out.

Cue the contest and me figuring I need a WO that is smarter, not harder, and that produces results that cut to the quick; this would be a good opportunity to prove to myself that T-Tapp alone was all I needed. Besides, what with being responsible to Kitty with pictures and measurements, it would keep me honest and in a regimen for 3 months! What would I have to lose? Well that’s an understatement if ever I uttered one…

Without changing one aspect of my eating habits, brushing once per day, using the Alfalfa (6-9 per day) and Fibertox (1-3 per day) and using any of the T-Tapp workouts (BW+; B/R; HTF/S/H; Tempo Arms; Tempo Torso; SATI or playing with any POP video combinations), I got to work. Plus, bless her, Esther Williams, one of our trainers in CA and a regular contributor on the Less To Lose thread on the forums, was kind enough to throw out monthly challenges to all of us on that thread (be it a slow, fast, from memory, weekend BC or Xtra cardio – can you say HDs) and I gamely accepted! All I can say is…WOW!!!

The changes were not only physical ones but mental ones as well. I have learned to appreciate my body for what it is and what it has gotten me through; I love my curves and what’s packed into my short torso frame; I love finding clothes that look dynamite on me; I am unique and you know what? Not one of you out there is exactly like me! I want my body to be the best that it can be for me! I have learned to temper my eating to what my body wants and needs, not perfectly but it’s a continual learning process and I feel very comfortable doing it this way; besides, life is too rich to not enjoy eating all the wonderful food experiences out there or to feel guilty about it. I love that this workout is a constantly evolving and always challenging one. It really is all you need to succeed!

Physically, yes I lost 14 inches, what’s not to love about that? And my body isn’t listing to one side as much and my upper legs are getting more even! But honestly, I think the best gift I got occurred just 4 days prior to this contest ending. I felt an adhesion, wrapped from just under my L outer ankle bone to the achilles/heel area, gently (trust me, that is unusual in and of itself) go during a workout. Later, during the flex/point part of doing AL, there was a lot of crunching and cracking going on BUT no locking and no pain. For the first time in 25 years, I can now point my L foot on an almost even level with the R; I can walk without any of the old pain; I am feeling new muscles and tendons around the ankle (and yes it does hurt but that’s because it’s all new); I can go to bed without spending at least 10-15 minutes trying to get my foot in a comfortable position; I have such a new spring in my step these days and I have Teresa to thank for it all!

T-Tapp really is about reshaping your body AND your mind to make the most beautiful and efficient self that you can be. Teresa said that I can do it and I did! And you know what? I always will!
