60 Day Challenge - 2007
Category Winner
More to Lose Using Basic Plus/SATI/SITM

Patty C.
Short Torso/Long Leg

It seems that for most of my adult life, I have fought battle after battle against one illness or another. My weight has been an almost constant battle over my entire life but the last twenty years have been even harder. At 24 it was Epstein-Barr although it took several years to get a true diagnosis. Multiple episodes of depression, severe chronic allergies, lymph infections, removal of ½ of my thyroid which then lead to hypothyroidism, which lead to more weight problems. A pregnancy and childbirth at the age of 39 for my one and only beautiful daughter lead to more weight gain. A merry-go-round of strep infections forced the removal of my tonsils at the tender age of 42. Let's not forget the hit that I took from Hurricane Katrina (pack another 40 pounds onto an already overloaded frame). And now a diagnosis of diabetes from my doctor has lead to the battle of a lifetime. My doctor wanted to put me on medication and I refused to take it without at least a decent attempt at tackling this problem with diet and exercise. Maybe this is what I needed to turn my life around and bring me back to good health.

So, I started modifying my diet and for a few weeks I did pretty good - the weight started to come off. However, after three weeks my weight loss stalled. I knew I had to add exercise to really get control of my weight and my blood sugar so I pulled out my T-Tapp DVDs and started working out. My schedule leaves me very little time for exercise so I just started with the BWO+. Then, I thought it would be a good idea to get an exercise bike so that I could vary my workouts a bit and not stress my knees. So, off I went to the store to purchase the bike. I had to wait a week for delivery so, in the meantime, I decided to log on to the T-Tapp website to see what other workouts I could do. I had started using T-Tapp several years ago off and on and had even started the 60-day challenge in 2005 but dropped out when I got sick. When I went to the website this time I saw that they were getting ready to start another 60-day challenge. This was just what I needed to get motivated to work out again. A part of me didn't want to do this as I realized if I did win then my pictures would be posted on the website and I almost couldn't bear the thought of anyone that I knew seeing the awful truth of how bad I had let my body go. But the part of me that knew I needed this accountability won out.

I also went out and purchased Teresa's book, Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes so that I could really understand all the moves. Since I had joined the contest in the BWO+/SATI/SITTM and the Health Improvement categories I thought my best bet was to get a really good handle on the form for each move and really make each and every workout count. I also read online about how much the Hoe-Downs were supposed to help with lowering blood sugar so I tried adding an additional set of Hoe-Downs each workday to help with my blood sugar control. I was usually able to keep my blood sugar in check by watching my diet but a few times it would get a little high and I'd go to the ladies room and do a set of Hoe Downs. It usually helped me bring my levels down about 20-30 points. One day I went to lunch with a friend and an hour after eating my blood sugar registered 209. Shocked, I immediately went to do a full set of hoe-downs. About 10 minutes later I took my blood sugar reading again and I was absolutely stunned to find that it had dropped 72 points. I was hooked.

From that point on I started eating only GM and stayed away from all starchy veggies and sugary or processed foods. I also ordered the CRT Skin Tightening System and started brushing and taking my supplements but I didn't get really serious about it until about halfway through the contest when I realized the stretch marks on my arms were almost completely gone. I've always hated my arms; I've lost and gained weight so many times that the back of my arms had terrible stretch marks. I'm also very broad shouldered and think I look like a linebacker when I see myself in the mirror. Now, my arms look better than they have in a very long time and they even have a better shape to them, which I think is from the better posture due to the T-Tapp principles and exercises. That alone is worth so much to me. Now, I brush at least twice a day and always before I workout. It's really invigorating to start the day with a brushing. The stretch marks on my stomach are almost completely gone as well.

With the help of T-Tapp I've been able to lose 15 pounds and more inches then I ever dreamed I could in two months. I also dropped 2.5 points in body fat. T-Tapp has been a miracle for me. The best part though, has to be the results of my 90-day follow-up visit to my doctor. Prior to starting the contest, my fasting blood sugar reading was 113. My fasting blood sugar reading at the end of the contest is 97 - normal, and my HbA1C, the most important reading in my opinion, was 6.3 at the beginning of the contest. Now, my HbA1C is 5.8, which is in the normal range, which means, NO medication needed! I was also extremely surprised by the changes in my cholesterol readings.

  April July
Total Cholesterol 215 157
HDL 47 44
LDL 147 100
Triglycerides 105 65

Even though the HDL reading went down a little bit, the dramatic change in the LDL more than balances that out. My doctor was very pleasantly surprised by my results and said that I should just keep it up. I will go back in another three months and I cannot wait to see the additional changes.

And what of the exercise bike? Well, poor thing has been sitting around for two months in the spare room collecting dust. My daughter has enjoyed playing on it though. Now that the contest is over part of me feels like I should spend some time on it so as not to have wasted the investment, but I know with T-Tapp I don't really need it. Thanks Teresa!
