60 Day Challenge - 2007
Category Winner
Less to Lose with Health Improvement

Summer J.
Combo

I entered this contest in the "Less to Lose" category, but I wish there had been a category for "Less is More." I am simply astonished at the results I achieved over the past 60 days; I would have been happy with these results no matter what, but considering how very few workouts I did, I am amazed and delighted.

I was already at my goal size at the start of the contest. After a little over a year of consistent T-Tapp, I'd already lost almost twenty pounds and had gone from a tight size 6 to a comfortable 2. I'd accomplished the exactly same feat in 2001, before getting pregnant, so when I finally got fed up with buying increasingly larger sizes of jeans, I knew that T-Tapp was the best way for me to regain my ideal size and shape. Before the contest started, my measurements were actually smaller than they had been before I had a baby! My goal now is to continue to firm and define my body, and that is exactly what T-Tapp continues to deliver.

I had every intention of working harder than ever over the 60 days of the contest -- I was going to do two boot camps, and three workouts a week the rest of the time, and challenge myself to do extra exercises at night -- but life intervened in a big way. My husband and I run a business together, and two weeks before the contest started, we got a new client that tripled our work volume overnight. Our need for more employees and better office space became pressing, so we began the process of purchasing a small commercial building closer to downtown. The stresses of our rapidly growing business, combined with the normal strain of being a wife and mother of a young child, simply overwhelmed me.

When I get stressed, I become more susceptible to illness, and with a son in preschool, there's always a steady supply of germs waiting for my defenses to be lowered. The first day of the contest found me sick with a cold, exhausted, and unable to find the energy to work out. After more than a week with no exercise besides a bit of gentle walking and PBS, I finally was able to complete a 4-day boot camp with T-Tapp Tempo. For the next two weeks, I managed only two workouts each week, but yet my measurements at the halfway point showed a total loss of 6.5"! I was hopeful that I could work out more during the final month of the contest, but I got sick, again, and after I got better, I tangled with a bad crab and wound up with a mild case of food poisoning. My plans for three workouts a week and an end-of-contest boot camp were scrapped, as my body made it clear that I needed to rest and recover. I did very few workouts during the last month of the contest, no more than one workout a week, and only once did I manage to work out for more than 20 minutes. I was a bit nervous when the time came to take my final measurements -- I was sure that with that very light workout schedule, and the hefty portions I'd been eating, I would show some gains. But I didn't. I found that I'd lost more than 3" since mid-contest, including losses on my hips and lower thighs. (I did go up one inch in my bust, but I'm not counting that. It's because I finally bought bras that fit properly; I had to go down a band size and up a cup size after T-Tapping off my back fat.) I measured myself again, because I couldn't believe it, but it was true. I'd lost almost ten inches over the 60 days.

How could this be? It must be that Teresa Tapp is telling the truth when she tells us "less is more!" I might not have worked out often, but when I did, I pushed myself to my max. I also believe that I keep losing because I've learned to incorporate T-Tapp principles into my daily life. I sit and stand with better posture, I keep my abdomen firm rather than letting it hang slack and round, and I walk with T-Tapp alignment in mind. It's a bit embarrassing to try to win a fitness contest on the basis of how little I've worked out, but I hope I will win and have this story published. I want people to see just how well T-Tapp works. I want everyone to know that you don't have to work out for hours every day, you don't have to lift weights or kill yourself with cardio, and you don't have to worry that T-Tapp will stop working when you get close to your goal. Less is more with T-Tapp -- I'm living proof of it!

T-Tapp has done more than just give me a body I'm proud to show off in a bikini. (It's true: I'm 32, I'm a mom, and I've bought myself four bikinis over the last year. I even enjoyed shopping for them, and if that doesn't mean my fitness program is working, I don't know what does.) T-Tapp has helped me rebuild my health. I feel stronger and healthier now than I did in my early twenties. In particular, T-Tapp has helped enormously with my asthma. When I started T-Tapping again last April, I was taking a twice-daily prescription medicine to control my asthma, and I was still having mild attacks almost every day that required the use of albuterol, a fast-acting inhaled medicine. By the New Year, I'd found that I didn't need to use the daily medicine, but I was still frequently using albuterol. For years now, I've expected to need to refill my albuterol prescription once a month. When the contest started, I noticed that my albuterol inhaler was running low... and two months later, I still haven't had to get a refill. My asthma is that much better! I very rarely have to use albuterol now, which is amazing. I've had two colds since the start of the contest, which usually make the asthma symptoms worse, but still, I haven't had to rely on the fast-acting albuterol. T-Tapp given me fitness from the inside out; it's literally made me breathe easier!

Thank you, Teresa, for sharing your workout with the world. It has changed my body, my health, and even my outlook on life. I'm proud of what I've accomplished so far, and I know that I can keep sculpting my body with T-Tapp... I can't wait to see what I look like in a bikini next summer!
