Amy B.

I love to T-Tapp! I also love to eat carbohydrates and sugar. My name is Amy and I’m a carboholic. Until this past year, I could get away with eating carbs and sugar as long as I was T-Tapping. Now at age 43, I decided that I needed to not only T-Tapp, but to eat healthier. The 60 Day Challenge was the motivation I needed to get me back on the road to a healthier lifestyle. Exercise and clean eating are the now part of my lifelong challenge.

I turn to food for comfort and when I am stressed. This past year has provided me with the challenges of homeschooling all three of my boys (a 4th grader, 7th grader, and 9th grader), teaching a weekly women’s Bible study, teaching basketweaving classes, and being a wife and homemaker. I found myself eating the same things my boys ate, the only difference being that I was putting on weight and they were getting taller! I was eating somewhat healthy regular meals, but was eating carbs for snacks. I am a long torso and tend to store my excess in my hips and thighs. Thankfully I T-Tapped consistently or the results would have been a lot worse!

My T-Tapping journey began in March 2006 after I read about it on a homeschooling forum. At that point I had been Jazzercising three or four times a week and running four to five times a week and competing in half-marathons. I have always enjoyed exercising and its benefits. I stopped all other exercises for a month and only did T-Tapp. I was excited when I lost 20 inches in that month. I decided that “less is more” and gave up my running and Jazzercise. Since that time, I have consistently T-Tapped three to four times a week. My favorite DVDs are Tempo Lower Body and Tempo Intermediate. I love the efficiency and effectiveness of T-Tapp.

For the 60 Day Challenge, I decided to continue T-Tapping four times a week, walk on my “off” days, and cut out sugars and bad carbs. (I am thankful that the contest started a couple of days after my birthday!) On days that I didn’t T-Tapp, I walked using T-Tapp principles (last three toes, straighten leg all the way, ribs up, engage lats). I was also a “good girl” and ate more “God made” foods like salads and vegetables. At the end of 30 days, I was astonished to find that I had lost 11 inches and 5 pounds. My pictures were still embarrassing, but showed improvement.

During the second half of the challenge, my family went on a four day vacation. I was not able to do any T-Tapping, but went on a couple of short walks. To my amazement, I didn’t gain any weight! When I came home, I continued on my routine of only working out four times a week. I think I used almost all of the DVDs…Basic, Tempo Lower Body Standing, Ladybug Standing, Tempo Arms (wearing my MBT shoes), Broom, and Tempo Intermediate. I enjoy variety!

T-Tapp continued to work on my body in the second half of the challenge. I continued to do four workouts each week and walk on my “off” days. Surprisingly, I lost not only 12.25 inches, but also 6 pounds in the second month. At the end of 60 days, I had lost 23.25 inches and 11 pounds. While I really abhor my “before” pictures, I am glad that I can see the difference. I can feel the difference in my clothes, my energy, my focus, and my body image. T-Tapp works efficiently so you don’t have to be a slave to it. I am proof that “less is more” even with those with “less to lose.”

I have learned a lot about my mind and body during this challenge. Eating too many “man made foods” leads to saddlebags, a pudgy middle, and a lower self body image. I love that my clothes are fitting me better now and that some are even getting baggy. Now whenever I feel the need to have something sweet, I choose a piece of fruit. My youngest has even joined me in choosing healthier snacks. I hope to give my family a better example of eating right and exercising.

Teresa, thank you for creating workouts that challenge my body and mind. Thank you also for creating this 60 Day Challenge. I had ignored 60 Day Challenges in the past, thinking that it wouldn’t make a difference in my life. I was wrong. I would love to win this challenge so that I could attend the Fitness Retreat this year. Raising three growing boys takes a lot of time, energy and money. Sometimes I feel guilty for taking time or spending money for myself, even though I know that taking better care of me will benefit my family. I also hope to be an encouragement to other “less to lose” tappers who struggle with exercise or eating habits. With T-Tapp, clean eating, and determination, anyone can accomplish their goals. I look forward to continuing my lifelong challenge of T-Tapp and clean eating. My name is Amy and now I’m a recovering carboholic who is addicted to T-Tapp!
