M.O.T.M.
Rebecca

Rebecca is a 34-year-old mother of four, soon to be five, living in Southern California. While she is currently a stay-at-home-mom her profession is fundraising, and she is always putting on some event or another.

Rebecca has been a friend of Teresa's for about six and a half years and always knew about T-Tapping, but being a marathon runner (ten marathons), she figured it was "too easy." She now knows better! About two years ago she tried her tapes (the advanced of course) and could not move for two or three days. She says “every muscle in my entire body was sore.” She then became pregnant with her youngest, Hannah, and never took her tapes out again as she had suffered a miscarriage just before Hannah, she was admittedly too scared to exercise. Much to Rebecca’s dismay, in addition to her usual 60 pound weight gain, her physician discovered that she had gestational diabetes. She could not control it by diet, so she had to take large amounts of insulin. She did discover that she could back down on the insulin if she walked two miles after each meal for a total of six miles a day, which is obviously pretty difficult to do when you are eight and nine months pregnant.

After Hannah was born Rebecca went back to running and lost all but about 15 pounds of her pregnancy weight. Much to her surprise when Hannah was six months old she found out she was pregnant again! A couple of weeks later, she started to T-Tapp and decided that she was going to do it through out this pregnancy. Rebecca has consistently done the intermediate workout between three and five times a week. On her “off” days she uses an elliptical trainer and does parts of T-Tapp.

Rebecca says she was able to keep her gestational diabetes under control completely until about week 30 and even then (much to her doctor's dismay) she only had to take very small amounts of insulin. Rebecca says “I know that I can attribute this to T-Tapping because at weeks 32 and 33 I got very sick with a cold and could not T-Tapp. As a result, my insulin needs went up to seven large shots a day! In addition, the baby grew twice the normal rate during those two weeks. At the beginning of week 34, I was able to get back on track and I went back to needing very little or no insulin. My doctor could not believe it.”

It has been amazing to Rebecca how T-Tapping lowers her blood sugar. In addition, she has only gained about 22 pounds instead of her usual 60 pounds plus. People have been amazed at how much less "puffy" she looks this time around. That definitely has motivated Rebecca to keep with it. Rebecca has also tried to do the same walking routine that she did with her last pregnancy with Hannah and would immediately begin having a ton of contractions. Because she has always struggled with preterm labor contractions, she knew she had to stick with the low impact T-Tapp workout and preferred it to walking as it took far less time and had a greater impact on her blood sugar than walking for the same amount of time.

Rebecca says she is looking forward to getting back in shape after she has the baby, because she knows it will be easier. She says “Even though I am pregnant, I feel like this workout has kept me toned and strong. Most people quit exercising because they feel as though they don't have enough time. You just have to carve out the time to do it. If I can do it with four kids and being pregnant with my fifth, anyone can!” Some strategies that work for Rebecca include T-Tapping first thing in the morning, “otherwise” she says “I never get to it. Trust me, this is not easy, given the fact that I am not a morning person.” Sometimes she asks her husband to watch the Hannah and take her along when he drops the older kids off at school which will give her time in the morning to get through most of the tape. Other times she exercises while Hannah is sleeping. Rebecca also has a cleaning lady that comes a couple of times a week and she will watch the baby for those 40 minutes the intermediate T-Tapp tape takes. Rebecca admits that there have been times where she has gotten up for that 4 a.m. feeding and just stayed up to T-Tapp after Hannah goes back to sleep. Other times Hannah will try to imitate Rebecca when she does her nightly routine of Hoe Downs followed by Diva Derriere. That’s what is so wonderful about T-Tapp, you can fit it into your lifestyle; mommy of one or soon to be five. Even little bits of T-Tapp during the day will help you to be a Fit Mommy.

Thanks Rebecca for sharing your story and we look forward to updates in the future!
