M.O.T.M.
Tina

Tina Allen is a 37-year-old mother of two from the Washington, D.C. area. She is an Executive Assistant to a partner in a large worldwide law firm. Tina has been T-Tapping for three years and throughout her last pregnancy.

Stephanie: Why were you looking for T-Tapp?

Tina: I had gained a tremendous amount of weight due to health issues. I knew I had to get moving to get healthy again. I started walking and trying to eat in moderation, then started going to the gym in my building at lunchtime.

Stephanie: How did you find out about T-Tapp? Why did you choose to start T-Tapping?

Tina: I was going to the gym and felt that my workout needed a new direction. I started searching the Internet and found T-Tapp. I read every single page on the site. I figured that I could at least try it. Plus, it did not require me to bounce or jump or do anything that my knees could not tolerate.

Stephanie: Did you have knee issues?

Tina: Yes. T-Tapp has helped my knees and back. I was in a car accident many years ago and could always feel when it was going to rain. T-Tapp has strengthened the muscles in my knees and back and now they do not creak anymore. My functioning has increased overall.

Stephanie: Prior to T-Tapp you mentioned you had gone to the gym. Did you have any specific routine or program?

Tina: I basically stuck to my own kind of workout with cardio and weights. When I had worked out with weights in the past, I had great success, but after the accident, I had some problems with my knees during leg presses, squats, etc. T-Tapp is my chosen form of exercise because I can strength train using my own body weight. It is more comfortable on my joints, especially as I get older, and the results are great.

Stephanie: What was your first impression of the workout?

Tina: I dove right in and did not even preview the tapes first. I could not believe how difficult it was, and I was not jumping all over the place. I did a 14 day bootcamp and lost a size. It is a great mind/body workout.

Stephanie: Did you find it easy to learn?

Tina: Yes, I found it easy to learn. When Suzi Johnson, the T-Tapp trainer in my area, and I started meeting, she was impressed that my form was quite good already just from using the workout tapes alone!

I was so fortunate that Suzi worked right across the street from me and we could work out at lunch. My form was good, but those "special" tweaks that she has given me take my workout to another level. Although, I was fortunate to have Suzi as a trainer (especially during my last pregnancy), I do not feel that a trainer is necessary to get results with T-Tapp. I paid close attention to the instruction and pointers on the tapes.

That said, training with Suzi upped my workout a few notches because of the tweaks she would give me to enhance my workout. There are just some things that we cannot see ourselves, so having someone watch you is a bonus.

Stephanie: Yes trainers can help, but also I feel use of a mirror, a buddy and just even our internet message board at http://www.t-tapp.com/forum can take it up a notch as well.

Now, you mentioned you T-Tapped during your last pregnancy, but what were your results pre-pregnancy?

Tina: I was on the verge of dropping another size, so it would have been three sizes lost had I not gotten pregnant with Matthew.

Stephanie: What surprised you about T-Tapping during pregnancy? Was this pregnancy different than then your last?

Tina: I actually lost some inches during pregnancy. T-Tapping kept me toned and actually lifted my belly. I was huge, but I had no backaches nor did I swell. My first pregnancy was very different and was not a "normal" pregnancy, in that I had to have surgery during the pregnancy, so it is very hard to compare the two as apples to apples.

Stephanie: Did you need to make modifications to the Total Workout during your pregnancy?

Tina: No, I really did not have to modify too much. I just did what my growing belly would accommodate and did not really find any exercises difficult to do. I just had to shift my center of gravity every few weeks.

Stephanie: How long after pregnancy did you start up again, and with what workouts?

Tina: I started again after three months, when the doctor gave me the okay. I love the T-Tapp to Tempo Torso workout. It gave me a waist, which is really something for a short torso/long leg person.

Stephanie: That is a great tape for short torsos and I feel it is perfect for busy moms because of it being under 30 minutes too. Why do you keep T-Tapping, is it more than just inch loss?

Tina: The more I read and learn, the more I am glad that I found T-Tapp. The inch loss is great, but the health benefits are even more so. For a cancer survivor, it is so important to have so many aspects of this program incorporated into daily life.

I was six and a half months pregnant with my first when I had my right kidney removed. The tumor was malignant and was approximately three-quarters the size of my kidney. I was extremely fortunate in that it was completely encased within my kidney. I did not have to have chemotherapy or any other treatments after the surgery. I gained a ton of weight though.

Stephanie: Wow Tina I did not even know that you went through that. That is a scary time, and I am glad it turned out okay. You are a success story in a lot of ways!

You mentioned you gained a ton of weight. Have you been successful in taking that off?

Tina: I have lost about 80 to 90 pounds in the past four years. I have taken it off slowly, so that it will stay off. I have changed my eating habits and generally try to stay close to the God-Made/Man-Made way of eating Teresa recommends. I also try to keep myself hydrated and brush, but have fallen off the wagon as far as T-Tapping and brushing these past two and a half months (with my husband traveling, our family moving, and I cannot seem to find my workout clothes). But, I am getting back to the gym next week to get rid of this jiggle. I have not gained anything, it feels all loose. My goal is to be in a 12 by the end of August.

Stephanie: It sounds like you are on your way. One thing I also feel that is one of the best parts about T-Tapp and you fall off the bandwagon WITHOUT gaining, do a four day bootcamp and start losing again. So do you enjoy the Cellulite Removal Technique program and brushing?

Tina: I brush and am happy to report that when I do brush, and am not lazy about it, my cellulite does not look as bad. I do take alfalfa. It helped during pregnancy, too.

Stephanie: What do you like about the Premium Blended Alfalfa?

Tina: Alfalfa was a God-send during my most recent pregnancy. I never got as swollen as with my first, especially toward the end of the pregnancy. And, because alfalfa keeps the acidity down in your system, I take it regularly since cancer does not like an alkaline state. Being a cancer survivor of five years, this is very important for me to do. Overall, the knowledge of the human body, food intake, etc. that I have learned from T-Tapp has kept me in excellent condition. I do not stress out as much going for my cancer check-ups or physicals.

Alfalfa has also helped my skin. I suffer from cystic acne and have been tried a number of remedies, including Accutane. The Accutane worked for about a year, but the alfalfa keeps my skin looking pretty good and is not dangerous.

Stephanie: Which are your favorite moves from T-Tapp?

Tina: My favorite move is lunges. Nothing seemed to budge my thighs and when Suzi tweaked my form on lunges, voila, losses!

Stephanie: What would you tell someone considering T-Tapp?

Tina: Well, I have told a number of people about T-Tapp. I try to share with them what it has done for me and the health benefits of doing it.

Stephanie: Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself and your T-Tapp journey with us Tina, I really do appreciate it and I think you have inspired a lot of people.
