Bette Franke

My weight loss story is long. I was a skinny kid, and chunky adolescent. I stayed chunky thru high school. I did slim down right after high school and married within the year. Three children arrived in 4 years, while I kept trying to lose the 'baby weight'. When my youngest was about 4 I was happy with my weight. A couple of years later I went thru a divorce, and lost weight, looking 'sickly' for a while.

I stayed in pretty good shape till age 40 when I had a hysterectomy, which necessitated three more surgeries for repair. During this time, I gained more than 40 pounds. In the fall 1996 I got on the scales and was shocked to see 200 pounds. I knew I was getting heavier, but this was the end of the road.

I started Atkins and lost 30 pounds in about 6 months. I began to feel better. I started T-Tapp in late 2000 and lost 16 pounds, and 17 7/8 inches. In mid 2001 we went on an extended trip with me gaining 20 pounds, and I was just never able to get back on the wagon.

I had always been very large busted, so had breast reduction surgery in 2002. My weight however remained too much for my height.

In 2003 I had been diagnosed with a thyroid problem and now seem to be optimized on medication.

Fast forward to the end of 2005. I was 62. I no longer liked myself, so I cleaned up my eating, start date, December 26th. Then on Jan 4th, I joined a fitness center. First all cardio, then added in some weights. In a little over two months I was down 18 pounds. I had started reading the forum again, and started paying attention to KLT and getting my shoulders back and down, something I was unable to do before the breast reduction surgery. From March 13th to April 10th, I dropped 5 pounds and 14 inches.

On April 12th, I joined a challenge on the forum doing Basic Workout Plus, but with my old Instructional tapes. I followed that with a second challenge. The challenges have netted me another 14 ½ pounds and 17 7/8 inches lost. I have continued to eat clean (God Made/ Man Made) thru all of this, and am now down to 139 pounds, planning to lose 11 ½ more. I am 5'2" tall so should be okay at 127 ½ pounds. The inch loss is following along very nicely and I am wearing size 8 shorts that fit!

Since December 26, 2005 I have lost 38 ½ pounds; since March 13th, when I started measuring, 31 7/8 inches.

This time I am going to get to my goal weight and maintain. I am already worrying about this although I am sure if I just stick with tapping I can do it.

Thank you Teresa!
