Certified T-Tapp Trainer
I once overheard Teresa Tapp tell a woman who exclaimed, "T-Tapp is a miracle!!" this simple yet profound statement: "T-Tapp isn't the miracle. The miracle is your body's ability to rehabilitate itself." While Teresa's approach to fitness/wellness may feel like a miracle to those of us who have used it, it is her belief in our bodies’ ability to repair itself that fueled my desire to learn all I could about this remarkable system so I could share it with other women. I first found T-Tapp when my stepsister read about it in the Woman's World magazine in August 2001. She purchased the tapes and when we first did them together, I ended up spending more time laughing at myself than working out. I thought, “There is no way I am going to get my body to do things like that!" Even though I considered myself "active" because I was walking 4-5 miles a day, 6 days a week and lifting weights 3 times a week, I couldn't believe how T-Tapp worked muscles I had totally forgotten I even had! Eventually, this lead to an astounding inch loss and improvements in health.
Then I got pregnant in December 2003. Even though I certified as a T-Tapp trainer at 17 weeks, I was already suffering from an extremely painful condition called diastasis pubis symphis. From that point on, my pregnancy was mind-numbingly painful and the only thing that was able to bring me relief was one of Teresa’s signature moves, Primary Back Stretch. After an blindingly fast delivery in September 2004, I was able to drop all of the baby inches within 2 weeks, primarily due to the fact that I was able to maintain a lot of the muscle tone simply by going to my max during my pregnancy, which admittedly wasn’t all that much!
Then reality set in. A hormonal imbalance made me gain weight while nursing at a rate of about three-quarters of a pound a week. At my six-week check up, I was also diagnosed with moderate uterine prolapse and was told I would need a hysterectomy and extensive vaginal vault repair to relieve the constant lower back and pelvic floor pain. At only 33 years of age, I was unwilling to accept this outcome. I promptly called the T-Tapp offices for advice and was given a specific course of action to follow, which I did for about a year that included many, many reps of Organs in Place, another signature move from Teresa Tapp. I was examined again in December of 2005 and the doctor was astounded to discover that the uterine prolapse had been corrected and I would no longer require a hysterectomy. Needless to say, I was thrilled beyond words and I knew exactly why—T-Tapp. Even though I had continue to put on inches because of my limited ability to move due to the pain, I had been able to preserve my fertility and I was more than pleased with that result alone!
However, I still needed corrective surgery for other vaginal fault issues that no amount of Kegels or T-Tapp could fix. In April 2006, I underwent an involved surgery with a grueling 12-week recovery time period. For many weeks, the only form of T-Tapp I was able to do was modified versions that could be done lying in bed or sitting in a chair for five minutes at a time.
At the beginning of July 2006, all exercise restrictions were lifted, even though my doctor told me it would take upwards of a year to fully recover. At that point, I started at the very beginning with a 4-day boot camp consisting of Instructional #1 and #2 and then a fairly consistent every other day schedule. As of November 1, 2006, I have lost 49.5 inches, six of it from my waist and five from my hips alone! I still have many more to go to reach my goal, but T-Tapp is more than about inch loss. It is about rehabilitation, wellness, and helping the body heal itself from the inside out. My path these past five years has been a testament to T-Tapp’s ability to restore health and wellness and I will always be grateful for this workout.
Please feel free to email me with any questions—I would be honored to help you on your path to wellness and always feel it a pleasure to serve other women seeking to restore health and balance through T-Tapp. It might take me a few days to get back with you because I am a full-time graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. but I will get back with you!
