T-Tapp is excellent for inch loss, detoxification and improving overall fitness. But did you know it can promote healthy fascia?
I first experienced the power of Teresa’s fascia fitness techniques when I attended the T-Tapp retreat in 2015. My body responded so well to the workouts that in two days (and only five workouts) I lost 10.5 inches and significantly decreased inflammation in my body. Results like these may sound unbelievable, but it’s no surprise that focusing on the fascia can give you maximum results!
What is Fascia?
Fascia has become a hot topic in the fitness world over the past couple years because it plays a vital role in overall strength and flexibility. Teresa Tapp was one of the first to use specific exercises to stretch this unique connective tissue.
So, what does this fascia look like? You have probably seen it before and didn’t even know it. Have you ever noticed that “white stuff” shown on an anatomy mannequin? That’s fascia! Or at least, the visible part of it.
From the thin and slippery tissue underneath the skin, to the more fibrous tissue that makes up tendons and ligaments, fascia is one continuous network of connective tissue. It is woven in a single “net” from your head to your toes.
In addition to wrapping around each muscle in the body, anchoring them to the bones, it also encases each muscle fiber. That means that every organ and every muscle fiber in the body has one thing in common: fascia!
The Second Brain
It has even been called a “second brain” due to the important role this sensory network plays in the function of our bodies. Therefore, to address our overall fitness, it is vitally important to address the health of our fascia.
When this tissue is healthy, it “slides and glides” through movement. However, as we age, it can become rigid and stiff. This hinders movement, increases inflammation, and can cause pain.
Common symptoms of dehydrated fascia include muscle pain, stiffness, difficulty maintaining good posture, chronic neck or low back pain, lack of body symmetry and lack of flexibility.
T-Tapp & Fascia
While all T-Tapp workouts can stretch and strengthen your body from head to toe, Teresa’s Fascia Fitness series takes it to the next level, with techniques to promote healthy fascia from head to toe.
Unlike other methods of fascia rehabilitation, that can be invasive and have the potential for extreme detox effects, the Fascia Fitness series pumps out any toxins that are released during exercise via the lymphatic system.
This means they can be safely flushed from the body, instead of circulating unchecked. It also helps break up fascial adhesions and scar tissue from the inside-out.
For example, the move “Organs in Place/The Box” stimulates not only the lymphatic patches located in the abdomen, but it also targets the layers of fascia located in the deep core. Teresa knew exactly what she was doing when she designed these moves!
Fitting in Fascia Fitness
My days are busy as a wife, stay-at-home Mom of two, and small business owner. If you’re anything like me, you don’t have a lot of extra time to spend on exercise. You might hear about these Fascia Fitness techniques and say, “I don’t have time to implement yet another regimen in my already busy day!”
Well, as it turns out, you can build muscle, trim inches and stretch the fascia all in one workout! I love doing Fascia Fitness workouts because they strengthen my muscles and leave them feeling relaxed and supple. My energy, mood and range of motion all improve with just 15 minutes of Fascia Fitness each day. It’s such a worthy investment of my time!
There is no Instructional DVD for the Fascia Fitness series, and it can be difficult for newcomers to learn what they should be feeling and how these moves differ from other T-Tapp workouts. That’s why I filmed Fascia Fitness Cardio to bridge this gap. I decided to teach all of the moves from Teresa’s yet-to-be-released Fascia Fitness Cardio workout at an instructional pace so that you can experience the difference for yourself. And like all of T-Tapp, the Fascia Fitness methods work for all ages and fitness abilities.
In my online clinic, I taught the class while 20 weeks pregnant with my son. I am now 3 months postpartum and have enjoyed a seamless recovery from childbirth by utilizing these activation techniques. Many of my clients have seen accelerated and more comprehensive inch loss results when using fascia-focused T-Tapp workouts too.
Not only can you feel the difference, but you can see the difference as your body begins to re-shape! Teresa was always ahead of the curve when it came to exercise physiology, and I’m so grateful that she was able to share her insight with us.
