The Hidden Health Costs of Stress and How to Beat Them

At one point or another, we have all experienced stress. If you have never experienced stress then you must be a zen genius, as for most of us the inevitable feeling of stress occurs quite frequently. Stress can come from nowhere and completely ruin your mood and your day.

In extreme cases of stress, you can be left feeling unwell and even delirious. Nobody knows why your body reacts as it does to stressful situations, but there are a number of health costs that come with experiencing regular stress that is not good for the body. Here are the hidden health costs of stress and some advice on how to beat them.

Sexuality

Something that you may not know is that constantly experiencing stress can actually get in the way of your sex life. People who constantly feel stressed will notice that their libido will start to decrease, this means that you will feel less inclined to engage in sexual activities, which arguably will make you feel far more stressed.

If you are someone that has a partner, then this could continue to cause a strain on your relationship, which will only continue to make you feel stressed.

How do you combat a lowered libido?

If you start to notice that your libido has become lower, then there are a number of ways that you can combat it. First of all, remove yourself from any stressful situations that you may be exposed to and see if there is any improvement.  If there isn’t any improvement, then you can contact your doctor and they will provide you with a number of helpful solutions.

Sleeplessness

If you are experiencing stress, one of the first things that will be affected is your ability to sleep. During stressful times, the events that are stressing us out constantly play on our minds. It can be impossible to get a good night’s sleep when you have scenarios whirling around your head and it is not easy to just stop thinking.

Along with the uncomfortableness that comes with a lack of sleep, being exhausted can affect you in a number of different ways. You can get headaches, feel unwell, which once again can only increase any feelings of stress that you may be experiencing.

How to combat sleeplessness?

If you have experienced sleeplessness before, then you probably have your own methods for dealing with it. However, if you are feeling extremely stressed then your usual sleeping techniques probably won’t work. We recommend a number of things, from deep breaths to a long hot bath before bed. Once again these techniques may not work for everyone. If this is the case, then we recommend trying a CBD or THC treatment.  If you want help to sleep but you don’t want to get ‘high’, we recommend that you use the delta 8 thc flower as this has a lot of calming effects but is not hallucinogenic.  This will help you fall into a comfortable sleep without worrying about any anxiety and stress.

Mood swings

If you have ever been in a situation where you have experienced intense stress, then you will be more than aware of just how easy it is to become irritable. Something that may seem small on a regular day may seem a lot worse when you are under stress, which means that you may react to it in an unreasonable way, which once again will only make situations much worse.

You may also notice that when you are stressed you feel helpless much more intensely. This means if you struggle from feelings of sadness, then you will feel it more intensely than you usually do.

How to Combat Mood Swings

The best way that you can combat mood swings is by talking to a professional about it. If this is how your mind reacts after you have been under some stress, then it is a sign that you may have some underlying mental health problems. It will be impossible to escape stress, so if you are unable to manage it emotionally now, you will not be able to in the future so you should seek professional help.
